The vehicle identification number (VIN), also known by the older designation chassis number, consists of a total of 17 letters and numbers. It can be found in the vehicle registration document (registration certificate part I), in the vehicle title (registration certificate part II) and on the vehicle itself. Depending on the manufacturer, it can be located in the engine compartment (usually on the bulkhead), on the driver's door or under the windshield. It is usually also on the invoices from the workshop.
